Frequently asked questions.

Do I need to have a camera?

No. We supply DSLR Nikon cameras. However if you have your own camera and know how to use it you may bring your own.

What do we eat everyday during summer camp?

We go to a variety of places to get food ranging from pizza shops, market stalls, Sullivan's at Castle Island and Roy's Cold Cuts in Eastie etc. BUT If you are a picky eater we highly suggest to bring a lunch or snack just in case. There will be days where bringing a lunch will be mandatory depending on food accessibility on field trips.

How much money do I need for lunch?

Well...how much do you like to eat? I find students tend spend as little or as much as they have so I suggest putting yourself on a $10 a day budget and even consider bringing lunch 1 or 2 days to save money.

Where do I go for class in the morning?

Teachers pick up students at our meeting spot at 20 South Street (Curtis Hall Parking Lot), OUTSIDE in Jamaica Plain at 9am. Teachers drop off kids at the same location at 3pm.

What do we do all day during camp?

Every day is different. We either head to a shooting field trip or to the teaching space for lessons and editing.

How far away is the teaching space from the pick up location?

The home teaching space is 2 miles away in Roxbury. We offer the pick up and drop of because we have found it EASIER for families to meet there (especially those coming from Brookline, Roslindale, Newton etc.).

For virtual class, can I use my cell phone?

Yes. You can take photos on whatever you want for virtual classes.

Can I use my phone during class?

Not unless it is to call parents. On occasion staff will let you share things from your phone if it is part of engaging with others. We encourage kids to interact with each other instead.

What do I need for summer camp?

You just need lunch or lunch money and a flash drive on Friday to collect your edited images. We do suggest a water bottle if you tend to get thirsty as some field trips can be long. And if we go to a beach or sprinklers, you will be informed to bring a bathing suit if you want to swim or get wet. Sunblock and a great attitude!

What program do we use to edit?

We use Lightroom to edit our photos. You will then get to take home all your highlight photos with you on a USB. You can bring your own or buy one at check out.
